Throwaway World

Throwaway World

Verse 1.

Throwaway dishes throwaway cups

Throwaway bottles throwaway love

Throwaway the law just get rid of it

Throwaway your neighbor if he hits the skids

Chorus:

It's a throwaway world

Throwaway morals

Throwaway love

Better think twice before you throw it away

Verse 2.

Throwaway grandma if she gets too sick

Get the man top pass the law that should do the trick

Throwaway the baby before it's even born

Throwaway the Bible throwaway the Lord

Bridge:

God didn't throw you away

Think of the price He paid

He died that you might have life

Don't throw it away

We live in a disposable society. "Throwaway dishes throwaway cups". Unfortunately this disturbing trend has come to include human beings. The unborn, the elderly, the physically and mentally challenged are all at risk. This song, written in 1986, sad to say, is more relevant now than when it was written. For the sake of all humanity, and in obedience to the universal and eternal law of God, "thou shall not kill" let's heed it's warning. "Better think twice before you throw it away"

Family We Deserve

Family We Deserve

Verse 1.

I wrote this song to tell you how I'm feeling

I know it's been a while since you heard the words

But something's happened changed my whole perspective

I can't imagine me without you in my world

My best friend's wife decided she was leaving

He never told her just how much he really cared

He loved that woman more than anything in his whole world

If he'd have told her that he knows she'd still be there

And in case you are not sure I love you now and ever more

I never saw the suitcase hid behind the door

I'll never know how close we were to a heartache cause I learned

Sometimes we get the family we deserve

Verse 2.

One day I got a phone call from my daughter

Through the years we drifted far apart

But I prayed for her each day that the Lord would guide her way

But the space between us really broke my heart

She called me crying dad I'm really sorry

I got some news I didn't want today

I remembered to a time I was a  child

When you lost your job I watched you kneel and pray

So I got out that old Bible that you gave me long ago

And now I know that Heaven's my real home

I thanked God then and there for that answer to my prayer

Sometimes we get the family we deserve

Bridge:

So when hard times come your way think of what you do and say

You never know who's watching as you do

God sometimes helps us learn through life's little twists and turns

Sometimes we get the family we deserve

Sometimes we get the family we deserve

"Family We Deserve" is one of my favorite songs. God gave me this one, almost entirely, in a dream. I woke up the next morning, grabbed my guitar and finished it off. It is all about paying attention to your family or your family paying attention to you. The little things matter, someone is always watching. Family is a true gift from God. "So when hard times come your way think of what you do and say, you never know who's watching as you do."

Fly High

Fly High

Verse 1.

There's two ways you can go now there's the left and there's the right

There's two ways you can journey by day or by night

You can live your life a dreamer and only go so far

You can turn your dreams to gold now and reach for sky

Verse 2.

Did you ever see a rainbow do you wonder where it goes

Did you ever feel a cool cool breeze and wonder why it blows

Did you ever watch your friends get what they don't deserve

What you want from life you've got to take go spread the word

Chorus:

Fly away on wings of gold fly away touch the sky

Fly away 'cause now it's do or die and me I choose to fly

Fly high fly high fly high fly high

Verse 3.

The time has come for you to choose you can walk or fly

You can make your dreams reality or watch them slowly die

You can stand around wishing and wish your life away

We don't know what tomorrow brings chase your dreams today

Fly high fly high

"Fly High" is a song I wrote many years ago. It was influenced by Iron Maiden and Dio, two bands I was listening to quite a bit back then. The lyrics are all about chasing your dreams and how if you sit and wait for things to fall in your lap, you'll be waiting a long time. The basis of the song is to chase the things you are after. "You can stand around wishing and wish your life away. We don't know what tomorrow brings chase your dreams today."

Alone In The Night

Alone In The Night

Verse 1.

Alone in the night you feel tension in the air I feel it too

You have suspicions that all of your friends have just walked out on you

Oh they say they're with you they'd never let you down well that's easy to say

But again and again you're finding out it only turns out one way

Chorus:

It's just you alone in the night

Finding out that nobody's by your side

Like a wolf alone in the night

Alone in the night can't take the pain

Got to find someone before I go insane

I'm so ALONE

Verse 2.

A loner you never could fit in no one gave you the chance

They call you rebel say you're out of control but that's just your stance

As the years go by all your feelings die now you're cold - cold as stone

But that's what happens to all of us when you're forced to walk alone

Repeat Chorus:

Ending:

I'm so alone I'm so alone

So alone

"Alone In The Night" - This one goes way back to the late '80's. It was actually the very first song I wrote lyrics to, as up to then I co-wrote songs with my mom. I remember writing this in a high school class after a particularly rough night of feeling way too much drama with friends. "As the years go by all your feelings die now you're cold - cold as stone, but that's what happens to all of us when we're forced to walk alone"

I'm Back

I'm Back

Verse 1.

Don't Quit

Hey you have you been living afraid - afraid of who you are

Hey you I've always promised you with faith you would go far

Hey you have they been telling you you're worthless well they're wrong

Hey you - you have all you need to win your faith will make you strong

I know it ain't easy I have seen the tears you cried

All the insults and the blame you've shoved it deep inside

I'm here to tell you now your life was not for this

You're not facing this alone so scream and raise your fist - and say

Chorus:

I'm back and I'm not gonna fail I'm back I'm the head not the tail

I'm back You promised You'd never leave that's good enough for me

I'm back no evil will prosper with me I'm back I have a destiny

I'm back You said I'm a child of God that's good enough for me - I'm back

Verse 2.

Hey you have you been running scared your back's against the wall

Hey you the One who's protecting you is the One who made it all

Hey you there's dreams you've been hiding from afraid that you can't win

Hey you the Father who put them there says get up go out begin

The size of your struggle is the size of your reward

I won't leave you by yourself you won't face this on your own

They've written you off they say you're done but they don't see

Your faith is in the Lord above He takes it personally - now scream

Chorus:

I'm back I will not be afraid I'm back equipped with the gifts You gave

I'm back all those who seek You - You will never turn away

I'm back You hold the stars in hand I'm back for me You have a plan

I'm back this world You have overcome that's good enough for me - I'm back

Bridge:

All of your pain has brought you here you have been strengthened have no fear

All of the lies they've told can't hold you down no more

All of the dreams God put in you He gave you what you need to make come true

All that I am and all I do I trust to You I trust to You my God I trust in You

Chorus:

I'm back right where I need to be I'm back God do what You want with me

I'm back You love me the way I am that's good enough for me

I'm back I'm nothing without Your love I'm back please help me to trust enough

I'm back with You on my side who could ever take me down - I'm back

"I'm Back" is a song I wrote after going through a particularly bad bout of depression. The song is all about knowing that God cares about you and even in the darkest hour He will not give you more than you can handle. Life is not about how many times you've been knocked down, it's about how many times you got back up.

"All of your pain has brought you here".

God Don't Make Junk

God Don't Make Junk

Verse 1.

I know you don't approve of me

You judge only by what you see

You look at the exterior

And say that I'm inferior

Too short too tall too fat too thin

Not part of the clique you don't fit in

You call me a rebel a misfit a punk

But God made me and God don't make junk

Verse 2.

You tell me I don't measure up

That I'm not made of the right stuff

Not good enough not like the rest

Call me dirt and say I'm second best

Too black too white too yellow too brown

You don't dress right not from the right part of town

You call me an outcast and say my ship is sunk

But God made me and God don't make junk

Verse 3.

You laugh at me and call me names

Mock me and tell me I'm insane

A wanna be a wimp a geek

A has been a loser a freak

Too smart too dumb too young too old

Don't speak the right tongue don't fit the mold

I may not be like you and that might put you in a funk

But God made me and God don't make junk

Bridge:

God formed man from the dust of the earth

Breathed into him the breath of life and gave him worth

Man did not evolve from a monkey or a skunk

God made man and God don't make junk

Ending:

I may not be a picture perfect fashion model or a hunk

But God made me and God don't make junk

I may not be a famous scientist brave leader or a monk

But God made me and God don't make junk

I may not have world renown or great wealth hid in a trunk

But God made me and God don't make junk

God made me and God don't make junk

God made me and God don't make junk

This song addresses the judging and finger pointing that go on in our society and how this de-values human beings who are made by God, in His image. Each individual is unique and has a unique identity and purpose. We dare not criticize what God has made because God don't make junk!

Sell Anything

Sell Anything

Verse 1.

Said the merchant to the ad-man - I need your help

I'm inundated with goods - they're piled high on my shelf

It's a retailer's nightmare - I must soon rectify

Sales are low business is slow - I need to know the reason why

Verse 2.

It's plan as day said the ad-man - any fool would understand

These shop worn goods - are simply not in demand

But don't worry said the ad-man - laughing with delight

You can sell anything if you package it right

Chorus:

Tell them it's a bargain - tell them it's a steal

That they just can't live without it - that it's got sex appeal

Human nature's drawn to trinkets - that gleam and glisten bright

You can sell anything if you package it right

Verse 3.

So they polished up their goods - made them sparkle and shine

Easy credit mark-down sales - priced them $9.99

Ran ads in the papers - billboards everywhere in sight

TV commercials do wonders - if you package it right

Verse 4.

Success cried the merchant - my ship's come in at last

Thanks to the power of suggestion - I've turned this trash into cash

I've learned that gimmicks fads and clever ads - seduce and entice

Got supply create demand - just learn to package it right

Verse 5.

Do you have something to sell - I don't care what it might be

Tell the consumer they must have one - manipulate their greed

Second-rate out of date - bad for your health or over priced

You can sell anything if you package it right

Anne's thoughts on this song: Walk through the mall. Turn on the TV or radio. Drive down the highway. Page through a newspaper or magazine. Lots of cool stuff to buy and tons and tons of junk.

Bob's thoughts: This song reflects the state of marketing in our society.

We All Need A Hand To Hold

We All Need A Hand To Hold

Verse 1.

It was the summer of '73 - the last time that he saw him

Someday you'll come crawling back to me - he heard his father calling

He thought if he could hide his feelings away - in time his father's memory would fade

And he's waiting

Verse 2.

His family knows he's in a lot of pain - but he never lets them see it

They're worried but he says he's doing ok - and he tries hard to believe it

But he knows that he's been living a lie - he sees the fear inside his own child's eyes

And he's waiting

Chorus:

Sometimes in the night - he sees himself as a child

He's scared and so alone - he wants to talk for a while

He tries to cry but can't - there's something he was told

No matter who you are - we all need a hand to hold

Verse 3.

For the first time he's asking for help - he always was taught to keep it inside

He don't know how - but he knows he's going to try

He tells the boy - sometimes it's ok for a man to cry

And he's waiting

Bill's thoughts on this song - Sadly child abuse is largely handed down from generation to generation and the only way to break the cycle is when someone is brave enough to ask for help. No one can make it through this world alone and there is no shame in asking for help. This is the story of one man's journey from victim to abuser and finally forgiveness.

"Keeping the pain inside is not a sign of bravery....asking for help is.

Calm Before The Storm

Calm Before The Storm

Verse 1.

She walked into the crowded room - smoke filled the air

Popularity was her god - right or wrong she did not care

But soon the end it came - without a sound

All the friends she thought she had - they were not around

She saw a Man -  she heard of long ago

With tear filled eyes - He said you I do not know

Pre-Chorus:

What more can do - when life has turned on you

Tell me now is it true

Chorus:

It's the calm before the storm

One night and it's all gone

The calm before the storm

One night you're gone - you're gone

Verse 2.

When the sirens came - she was scared but felt no pain

Everything just turned to black

She saw the car in flames - childhood memories bring back pain

Now she knows she can't go back

Verse 3.

She saw her life go by - through a child's eyes

Now she's overcome with fear

The tears roll down her face - because she knows this place

She cries and cries but no one hears

Verse 4.

And now it's time to choose - because it could be you

Are you going to slam the door

Will you stand there proud - and scream there is no God

You say there's no Hell but are you sure

Pre-Chorus:

What more can you do - when life has turned on you

Tell me now is it true

Chorus:

It's the calm before the storm

One night and it's all gone

The calm before the storm

One night you're gone - you're gone

Bill's thoughts on this song:

Calm Before The Storm is a sad song about a girl that was given chance after chance to hear about Jesus and the Way to Heaven and chose to turn Him away. She chose popularity over the Truth and after a fatal car crash she finds out 3 seconds after death that Heaven and Hell are very real places. It would have been sooo easy to accept Jesus but now it's too late for her... a song of warning.

Tell me now is it true.

Where There's A Will

Where There's A Will

Verse 1.

They paint a dark picture - they say it can't be done

The competition is stiff - the course is long and hard in the race that you must run

And you're a real long shot - born on the wrong side of the tracks

They put you down when you're not around - they laugh behind your back

Verse 2.

Now you may stumble and fall - you might make a few mistakes

Don't be discouraged get back up on your feet - you got just what it takes

Make no excuse - make no apologies

Don't yourself short don't take no for an answer - strength of mind is what you need

Chorus:

Fix your eyes on the goal - pursue your dreams with determination

Remember faith and perseverance - is the winning combination

Fight with all your might - work sacrifice and pray

Don't give up - where there's a will there is a way

Verse 3.

In the heat of the battle - when the going gets tough

When you're hopelessly outnumbered back's against the wall - don't say enough's  enough

Don't back down - don't succumb to defeat

Stick to your guns surrender no ground - soon victory will be sweet

Anne's thoughts on the song:

Wolves

Wolves

Verse 1.

They look so good - seems they do everything right

Like their father the devil - they come as angels of light

Every letter of the law - they seem to obey

But inside they're ravenous wolves - don't listen to a word they say

Chorus:

Wolves in sheep's clothing - wicked cruel and vain

Everywhere they go - they bring trouble and shame

Like white washed tombs - they look beautiful to men

But they're filled with dead men's bones - death and filthiness within

Verse 2.

They take your money - and they waste your time

Hypocrites and liars - they poison your mind

Brazen and corrupt - they lead many astray

They beguile the weak - on the lonely they prey

Bridge:

How shall you know them - you'll know them by their fruit

Can a fig tree bear thorns - or sweet come from bitter root

They'll devour the widow's mite - proud and covetous of heart

They'll make merchandise of you - and then tear you apart

Anne's thoughts on this song:

The wolf is a predator. Sheep are prey. Our world is full of predators disguised as the very ones they prey on. They are in all walks of life but are especially vicious when they are false spiritual leaders. Jesus warned us about them in the Scriptures. (Matthew 7:15)

The Sun Will Shine Again

The Sun Will Shine Again

Verse 1.

Let me tell you a story 'bout a guy named Gordy back in 1963

Born in New York City no his life wasn't pretty 'bout as bad as it could be

The troubles that he faced each day were too much for him to swim

He might have given up on God but God didn't give up on him

As the years went by Gordy learned to survive felt someone was always near

Then on stormy night asked God into his life and he finally saw things clear

City kids have troubles that Gordy understands

He knew that he could reach them and he finally saw God's plan

Chorus:

I won't let you down but sometimes some rain must fall

Sometimes some rain is gonna fall

If you only put your faith in Me it'll work out in the end

This too will pass the sun will shine again

Verse 2.

There's a suitcase sittin' in the big white kitchen of a former happy home

What she thought would last now is in the past and it left her all alone

Felt like God had abandoned her her heart began to sink

But she couldn't see the big picture God cares more than you think

Though her heart was breaking and her nerves were shaken

She taught herself to sing

How her heart went wild when she saw the smiles

And the joy her songs could bring

What she found was so much more than what she lost could ever be

It wasn't what she was looking for but exactly what she needs

Chorus:

Bridge:

Right now someone's writing the last letter of their life

You're tired and angry and lonely and you just can't make it right

You talked but no one listened looks like you've failed again

The pills are in your hand you just want the pain to end

They never understood you that's why you want to die

You waited all your life for someone to say I'm glad that your alive

Someone has been listening and knows what you've been through

He heard your prayers and seen your tears and this song is just for you

I've got a message just for you don't give up the fight

You are meant to touch someone you will change their life

Someone's out there looking for someone just like you

You need each other then you'll see God's plan in total truth

God cares and that's the truth

This song is just for you

Bill's thoughts on this song:

This song is about God's love for us, sometimes in order to get to where we need to be in life we have to go through some unpleasant things, but we can't see the big picture, only God can and God's vision of the big picture is much more beautiful than we could ever imagine. Without the painful experiences we have gone through we would not be the same people we are now. God doesn't promise it will be an easy path in life but He does promise He will help us through and never abandon us.

"This too will pass the sun will shine again"

Wake Up

Wake Up

Verse 1.

Can't you smell the smoke can't you feel the heat

Don't you know you're in great danger wake up from your sleep

Can't you hear your neighbor calling calling you by name

Can't you see it's a raging inferno engulfing you in flame

Chorus:

Wake up the house is on fire burning with the fire of Hell

Wake up the flame's getting higher heed the warning break the spell

Get up get out while you can still escape

Wake up right now before it's too late

Verse 2.

Don't try to save your possessions get out while you can

No time for asking questions no time to make demands

This is no false alarm shake of complacency

Every moment is of the essence your life's in jeopardy
